Reviews of HF QRP digital modes equipment

Digital modes can go a long way with very little power. And equipment can be simple to build with various kits available. While you can transmit digital modes from your main transceiver connected to a computer, a dedicated low current draw transceiver, transmitter or receiver might be handy to free your main equimpment for other functions.

What are the main digital modes amateurs use on HF? WSPR is basically a slow data rate beacon mode. It's not for two way contacts but can at least establish that a radio path exists. The very popular FT-8 does permit exchanges of callsigns and signal report that meet the minimum requirements for a contact but is not really a conversational mode. JS8 is less used but does permit conversations as well as many other functions such as message storage and relaying.
